Eldon Lee Houlden, age 74, of Elwood, Nebraska died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. He was born on June 1, 1932 in northwest Gosper County, Nebraska to Benjamin & Helen (Bragg) Houlden.

He grew up in the Elwood, Nebraska area helping his dad with the farm work. It was during these years that he developed a great love for farming and raising animals. He graduated from Elwood High School in 1950. On July 30, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Delores Misterek. Over the years, he would work at numerous jobs around the Elwood community during the day and then would return to the farm to work the ground and take care of the animals after work. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work for different family members. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, of Elwood, Nebraska.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred, and brother David Houlden.

He is survived by his wife Delores Houlden of Elwood, Nebraska

Daughters: Kathy & husband Jay Beck of Elwood, Nebraska

Erin & husband Kurt Kugler of Elwood, Nebraska

Brother: Jerrold & wife Marilyn Houlden of Caldwell, Kansas

Brothers-In-Law: Lee & wife Darlene Misterek of Elwood, Nebraska

Dean Misterek of New Baden, Texas

Memorial services are Wednesday, May 2, at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Elwood, NE with Rev. Jeff W. Ernstmeyer, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Elwood Funeral Home, of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
