Elwood, Nebraska

Donald Michael LeDuke, age 67, of Elwood, Nebraska died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska. He was born on October 17, 1939 at Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Michael & Ella (Ruhr) LeDuke.


He attended and graduated high school from Burrillville High School in Burrillville, Rhode Island. After high school he joined the Marines and served from June 29, 1957 till April 5, 1959. He would then served in the active reserves until 1963. After his military service he would work in the New England area as a Steeplejack for many years. On January 1, 1972 he married Katharine Elaine Claus at West Palm Beach, Florida and would renew their vows on October 18, 1980. In March of 1984, they moved to Elwood, Nebraska. In 1990, they would move to Illinois and in September 1994, would move back to the Smithfield and Elwood, Nebraska area.


He enjoyed gardening, guns, playing cards, fishing in Florida, and his dog “Heidi”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Scott LeDuke, Step-Son Keith Auz, Brother-In-Law John Claus.

He is survived by wife: Katharine LeDuke of Elwood, Nebraska

Son: Michael LeDuke of Reno, Nevada

Daughter: Shawn LeDuke of Florida

Step-Son: Kenneth Auz of Lone Rock, Wisconsin

Step-Daughter: Kimberly & husband Dustin Hiesel of Richland Center, Wisconsin

Sisters: Beverly & husband David Sweet of Seekonk, Massachusetts

Phyllis & Ed Sheffington of Old Town, Maine

Grandchildren: 4

Viewing & visitation will be Monday, January 29, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, of Elwood, Nebraska.


Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 30, at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer, officiating.


Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
