Elwood, Nebraska

Ava MaRee Leggott, age 90, of Grand Island, Nebraska formerly of Elwood, Nebraska passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Wedgewood Care Center, in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was born January 24, 1917, 10 miles southwest of Elwood, Nebraska to Milo & Emma (Harms) Miles.

She graduated from Elwood High School with the class of 1935. She taught at a rural school near Elwood, Nebraska but was a homemaker most of her life. She married J. Galen Leggott on June 18, 1939 at the First Christian Church, in Elwood, Nebraska. In 1999 she moved to Lexington, Nebraska and in December of 2001 she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska to be closer to her son. She was an active member in the First Christian Church, of Elwood, Nebraska helping with Children' Choir, CWF, and Win-A-Couple Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Galen in 1984, Brothers Gaylord, Harold, & Gerald Miles, & Sister Iva.

Survivors include son Michael & wife Betty Leggott of Grand Island, Nebraska

    2 Granddaughters: Jessica & husband Kris Covi of Omaha, Nebraska

                                 Kate & husband Keith Pepsny of Corvallis, Oregon

    2 Great-Granddauthers: Caroline & Elsa Covi of Omaha, Nebraska

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, July 24, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, in Elwood, Nebraska with family present from 6 PM till 8 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 25, at 10:30 AM at First Christian Church at Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Steven Jergensen, officiating. Interment will be at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Elwood Funeral Home, of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
