Wilma Louise Sergel, age 85, of Elwood, Nebraska died Monday, January 15, 2007 at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on August 30, 1921 in Frontier County, Nebraska to William A. & Louise M. (Seikjost) Schneider.

She attended Elwood High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. After high school, she taught at various country schools in Frontier & Gosper County. She would also work at W.T. Grants in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married Paul Charles Sergel on October 2, 1946 at Eustis, Nebraska. They made their home in New Jersey were her husband worked at the shipyards. She would work for a drug store & delicatessen for numerous years. After their retirement, they moved back to Elwood, Nebraska in 1982. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church & LWML of Elwood, Nebraska. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Elwood, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Charles Sergel, brother Carl Schneider, sister-in-law Caroline Naughton.

She is survived by 3 sons: Paul W. & wife Theresa Sergel of Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Neil L. & wife Lori Sergel of Valley, Nebraska

William H. Sergel of Elwood, Nebraska

Sisters: Eleanor & husband Raleigh Nott, of Elwood, Nebraska

Lorene & husband Dave Houston of Bend, Oregon

Brother: Robert & wife Marilyn Schneider of Elwood, Nebraska

Sister-In-Law: Lorraine Schneider of Elwood, Nebraska

Viewing & visitation will be Friday, January 19, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, Elwood, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20, at 10 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Elwood, NE with Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer, officiating. Burial will be at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, NE., Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
