Elwood, Nebraska

Fern Elizabeth Betty Wages, age 86, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born on December 23, 1921 at Omaha, Nebraska to Harry & Della (Reeder) Chapin.

She attended and graduated high school from Cozad High School in Cozad, Nebraska in 1939. She lived in McPherson, Kansas and worked for Dr. Kubin who was a Milk Inspector for the Grade A ordinance in McPherson County. On July 31, 1942, she married Thearle A. Parkie Parkhurst. To this union three daughters were born; Mynette, Sandy, and Barbara, and a son Paul David. While her husband was in the service, they lived in Indiana, Maryland, Hastings, & Glenvil, Nebraska. After the service, they would make their home in Cozad, Nebraska and then moved to Chadron, Nebraska in 1960. They would also live in Gothenburg and Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Longmont, Colorado. Thearle would pass away on February 17, 1978. She married Glen Wages on December 1, 1979 and he would pass away in September of 1986. She returned to Cozad, Nebraska in 1987, and moved to Elwood, in 1994. She enjoyed her family, & especially her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by his parents, Infant son Paul David Parkhurst, 5 brothers & 2 sisters.

She is survived by Daughters: Mynette & husband Lannie Roblee of Curtis, NE

                                                 Barbara & husband Russell Story of Carrollton, TX

                                Step-Daughter: Penny & husband Daryl Jarvis of Longmont, CO

                                      Sister: Maude Darling of Cozad, Nebraska

Grandchildren: Shelly Wills, Mike Roblee, Stacey Dukes, Mark Roblee, Steve Franzen, Scott Franzen, Tim Franzen, Jennifer Story, Brian Charles, Paige Story, & Cameron Story

Step-Grandchildren: Laura, Scott, Steve, & Jeff

Great-Grandchildren: 24                    Special Niece: Connie Ourada, Overton, Nebraska

There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 11 AM at United Methodist Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Connie Karr, officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Lexington, Nebraska at 2 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Elwood Senior Center. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
