Elwood, Nebraska

William Louis Debban, age 83, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away at his home, on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. He was born August 14, 1926, to Paul Frederick and Margaret (Boss) Debban in Gosper County, Nebraska.  

William attended the Salem Lutheran School south of Elwood. He worked on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from October 8, 1946 until 1948.  He was married to Lola Irene Hansen at the Elwood Methodist church on February 24, 1952.  Bill was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran church and a long-time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran church in Elwood.  Bill was an active member of the American Legion for over 33 years.  Bill worked various jobs during his life including breaking horses, farming and trucking and working with his brother-in-law, Ernie Fiene at Elko for many years.  He loved horses, the outdoors, reading western books and driving trucks; his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Debra Ann Debban, brothers Ralph and Alan Debban; sisters Ardis Jenkins and Eunice Stoll.

                                           Jeffrey & wife Celeste Debban of Eustis, NE.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, July 29, from 4 PM till 8 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Elwood, Nebraska and prior to the service. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 30 at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood Nebraska with Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer, officiating. Burial will be at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Post #290 of Elwood, Nebraska. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
