Glen H. Monter, age 94, of Elwood, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

Glen was born on December 16, 1930, in Elwood to Henry J. Monter and Mary J. (Miller) Monter. He was baptized, confirmed, and attended school at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County, where his faith was rooted and remained central throughout his life.

In 1951, Glen was called to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, DeLilah Georgene Reese, on June 12, 1955. Together, they were blessed with four children: Shirley Jean, Douglas Leon, Charles John, and Dennis Eugene.

Following his military service, Glen returned to the family farm where he dedicated himself to a life of hard work, raising his family and cultivating the land alongside DeLilah. In 2000, they retired from farming and moved to Elwood, where Glen continued to live until his passing.

Glen was deeply devoted to his church communities, actively participating in the life of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, and the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Association. His faith guided his service to others.

A committed public servant, Glen was a proud member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, holding numerous leadership roles. He served as a Gosper County Commissioner for over 30 years and contributed his time and leadership to many local organizations, including the Nebraska Region II Human Services Board and the Gosper County Senior Center. His service was recognized through numerous awards for leadership and community involvement.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, H. J. and Mary Monter; his beloved wife, DeLilah (2013); and his son, Dennis (2010).
