Ruth Elaine Lund

Ruth E. Lund, age 90, of Bertrand Nebraska passed away Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 at home among family. She was born on January 26, 1936 in Gordon, Nebraska to George Walter and Gwendolyn (Benson) Broemer.

Later the family moved to Worland, Wyoming where she spent most of her childhood. Then they moved to Brunswick, Nebraska where she finished school. In 1954 Ruth married John Lund and lived on a farm east of Clearwater, Nebraska. Here they raised three sons: Jack, Steven, and Scott. Ruth loved to stay busy with her large garden, canning, baking, and working in the dairy they operated together. If you wanted to make her day, just ask her if she could do something for you. Nothing seemed to please her more than doing something for someone else.

In 1969 they sold the farm and moved to Elwood, Nebraska where she worked at the school kitchen for two years. In 1973 the family moved to Bertrand where she sewed for Betsy's Bobbins for a few years and was also employed at the Bertrand Nursing Home for several years. After retirement she continued sewing for fun and also thoroughly enjoyed yard work, taking pride in her flowers, garden and nice lawn.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, George Walter Broemer and Gwendolyn (Benson) Broemer; stepmother, Ruth Broemer; brother, George Broemer, In-laws: Ivan and Betty Walters; Don and Bernice Briza; Frank and Arlene Torres; Melvin and Elaine Lund; Roland and Bernadine Lund; and Leroy and Juanita Lund; nephews: Matthew Lund, and Roger Broemer; and niece, Nancy Lund.
